In a poignant and haunting collection of photographs taken by Konstantin Petrov in 2001, the inside of the World Trade Center is captured in rare, tranquil moments before the tragedy of September 11. As an electrician working in the towers, Petrov photographed the empty, yet bustling spaces of the building’s interior—stairwells, hallways, and maintenance areas—on the morning of that fateful day, leaving work at 8:30 AM just hours before the attacks. A year later, Petrov tragically died in a motorcycle crash, but his photos live on as a testament to the Towers' final moments, offering a glimpse into the everyday life within the iconic structures before they were destroyed.
