Who Was The President During The Louisiana Purchase?
Did You Know!
The shortest war in history was between Britain and Zanzibar on August 27, 1896. The war lasted only 38 minutes. It was triggered by a succession dispute in Zanzibar following the death of the sultan. Britain supported one candidate, while another candidate, who was not favored by the British, declared himself the sultan. When the ultimatum for him to step down was ignored, British ships opened fire on the Zanzibari palace, quickly overwhelming the opposing forces. The conflict ended almost as soon as it began, making it the shortest recorded war in history.
