Arizona is the only state in the U.S. that declined to adopt Daylight Saving Time.
Except for the Navajo Nation (which does observe it), the rest of Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time year-round. This decision was made back in 1968 because the state’s intense desert heat made longer summer evenings undesirable—people preferred the sun to set earlier so temperatures would cool down faster.
