Did You Know!
Nebraska has the only unicameral—and officially nonpartisan—state legislature in the U.S.
Unlike every other state, Nebraska abolished its bicameral (two-house) legislature in 1937. Today, it operates with a single legislative chamber, called the Nebraska Legislature, and it's officially nonpartisan—meaning candidates don't run with party labels on the ballot. This system was championed by U.S. Senator George Norris to reduce corruption and increase efficiency. It’s still totally unique in the nation.
