Vermont Has No Billboards — By Law
Since 1968, Vermont has completely banned billboards along its highways and roads. The state passed the law to protect its scenic beauty, rural charm, and small-town character. Today, it remains one of only four states in the U.S. with a total billboard ban (the others are Alaska, Hawaii, and Maine). Instead of massive roadside ads, Vermont relies on small local signs and tourism information centers to guide travelers—helping keep its landscape uniquely unspoiled.
