Nebraska is home to the only unicameral state legislature in the U.S.

While every other state has a bicameral legislature (a House and a Senate), Nebraska ditched that in 1937. Its legislature is nonpartisan and consists of just one chamber, making it unique in American governance. The idea was pushed by U.S. Senator George Norris during the Great Depression to save money and reduce corruption—and it's still going strong nearly a century later.
