🐊 Florida Has a River That Flows… Underwater

Florida is home to a fascinating natural phenomenon where it looks like there’s a river flowing beneath the water’s surface.

This happens in certain springs and sinkholes when freshwater and saltwater don’t fully mix, creating a visible boundary called a halocline. To divers, it can look like a flowing river with waves, banks, and even “currents”—but it’s actually just layers of water with different densities.

It’s one of the few places in the world where you can literally swim through what appears to be an underwater river inside another body of water—a truly surreal Florida experience.
