🌵 New Mexico Has a Secret “Underground Ice Cave” in the Desert

Here’s something most people don’t know:

In the middle of the hot, dry desert of New Mexico, there’s a cave that stays frozen year-round—even in the peak of summer.

It’s called the Bandera Ice Cave, and it sits inside a lava tube formed by ancient volcanic activity. Thanks to its unique shape and airflow, cold air gets trapped inside, allowing ice to build up and remain frozen—even when temperatures outside soar above 90°F.
