🏛️ Fairfax Virginia Was Once the Headquarters of the CIA—Temporarily

Before the CIA's now-famous headquarters in Langley, the agency operated temporarily out of an office in Fairfax during its earliest days in the late 1940s.

🕵️‍♂️ As the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) transitioned into the CIA after WWII, the agency briefly used classified locations across Northern Virginia, including parts of Fairfax County, for training and planning covert operations.

This period was so secretive that some buildings used by the early CIA still aren’t officially identified today—even in declassified records.
