Arkansas is the only place in the world where the public can legally search for real diamonds — and keep what they find.
At Crater of Diamonds State Park, visitors are allowed to dig for diamonds in a 37-acre volcanic field. Since the park opened, over 35,000 diamonds have been discovered, including stones worth tens of thousands of dollars.
What surprises most people:
- The diamonds are natural, not tourist plants
- People still find valuable gems every year
- You don’t need special permission — just pay park admission
The park sits on the site of an ancient volcanic eruption that carried diamonds to the surface, making Arkansas one of the most geologically unique states in America.
