How Tall Was The World's Tallest Person?
Did You Know!
Before becoming the 14th state of the U.S. in 1791, Vermont was an independent republic for 14 years (1777–1791). It had its own constitution, currency, and postal system and even abolished slavery in 1777, making it the first place in North America to do so.
During this time, Vermont operated independently from both British rule and the newly formed United States, negotiating with Canada and resisting New York’s claims to its land.
Pretty rebellious for a small state, right? 😄
