One rarely known fact about Arkansas is that Crater of Diamonds State Park allows ordinary visitors to search for real diamonds—and keep any they find. Located near Murfreesboro, the park sits on the eroded surface of an ancient volcanic crater that contains diamonds and other minerals. Visitors can dig through the soil, sift dirt, or simply walk the field looking for stones. Over the years, thousands of diamonds have been discovered there, including several notable gems weighing multiple carats. What makes the park especially unusual is its “finders, keepers” policy: if you uncover a diamond during your visit, it belongs to you.
