Did You Know!
The Moon’s rotation is synchronous with its orbit around Earth, which means it always presents the same face to our planet. However, this also means there is a “far side” of the Moon that is never visible from Earth. The first human-made object to reach the Moon’s far side was the Soviet spacecraft Luna 3 in 1959, which captured the first images of this hidden hemisphere. In 2019, China’s Chang’e-4 mission successfully landed on the far side of the Moon, marking a historic achievement in lunar exploration. The far side of the Moon offers a unique perspective for scientific observations and has become an interesting area for ongoing research and exploration efforts.
