Many people know Washington for Seattle, coffee, and technology, but few realize that the state is home to the largest building by volume in the world.

The massive Boeing Everett Factory in Everett, Washington, contains more than 13 million cubic meters (over 470 million cubic feet) of space. The facility was originally built to assemble jumbo jets and is so large that weather can occasionally form inside the building, creating small clouds under the ceiling when conditions are right.

The factory is one of the most impressive industrial structures ever built and remains one of Washington State's most unique engineering landmarks. It is so enormous that several Disneyland parks could fit inside its volume.

Why it's interesting: Most people assume the world's largest buildings are skyscrapers or sports stadiums, but one of the biggest structures on Earth is actually an aircraft assembly plant in Washington State.
