Most people associate California with earthquakes, beaches, and wildfires, but the state also has more than 500 volcanic vents.
Even more surprising, some of California’s volcanoes are still considered potentially active, including Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic Center.
Lassen Peak last erupted between 1914 and 1917, making it one of the few volcanoes in the contiguous United States to erupt during the 20th century.
