Weight loss has many different methods but researchers and experts stated that exercising is the best way to lose weight and sustain the weight loss. Many try to only diet to lose weight but they have a hard time trying to sustain their lost weight due to eating habits.

The CDC has stated that 42.4% of adults in the United States were obese in 2017–2018. There has also been an increase in adults wanting to exercise mirroring the surge in obesity rates. Although there is a mirroring effect, many people struggle to reach their target goals.

The study\'s co-author, Dr. Glenn Gaesser stated, “Unhealthy weight loss practices are much more common among persons with a high BMI who also attempt weight loss more frequently. We contend that it is entirely plausible that [many] of the health risks associated with obesity are due to the adverse effects of weight cycling. Weight cycling is associated with increased mortality risk, and weight cycling is more prevalent among persons with obesity.”
