A new report says ICE could spend as much as $20 million on specialized “shock gloves” designed to give officers another less-lethal option during close-range confrontations. According to the Associated Press, the device, known as the “G.L.O.V.E.,” is manufactured by Kentucky-based Compliant Technologies LLC and is intended to help officers quickly gain control of resisting individuals at close range. The company says the technology can temporarily incapacitate a resisting subject within seconds without causing lasting harm, potentially giving ICE personnel another tool for de-escalating dangerous encounters while reducing reliance on firearms and other higher-force options.
