    Who was she? A wealthy citrus grower from Ohio, Julia Tuttle convinced Henry Flagler, a railroad tycoon, to extend his railroad to the area by sending him a bouquet of orange blossoms in the dead of winter — proving Miami had escaped a devastating freeze that hit the rest of Florida.

    Result? The railroad came, and Miami was officially incorporated in 1896 — making Julia Tuttle known as the “Mother of Miami.”

This presidential railcar played a significant role in U.S. history, serving as a meeting place for the Ogdensburg Declaration between President Roosevelt and Canadian Prime Minister W.L. McKenzie King in 1940. The park also houses the Magma Arizona Railroad Engine #6, a locomotive built in 1907 that operated for 54 years before being retired and displayed at the park.
